Granite countertops are quite difficult to clean, especially if they have stains. The stains not only give the granite a color tint but also leave back a film which gives it an unwanted texture. There are various detergents available in the market which will help remove this film, however, some basic ingredients, easily available in your kitchen can be surprisingly as effective.
The simplest stain cleaner is a paste of baking soda in distilled water. Apply this paste over the film and leave it to dry. Wipe it with a damp cloth to remove the residue.
Next comes a mixture of 10-12 drops of your liquid dish detergent in a cup of distilled water. Add a teaspoon of baking soda to this mixture. The detergent helps in cleaning the surface while the baking soda deodorizes & helps in restoring the original shine of the granite.
Similarly, a cup of rubbing alcohol mixed with a cup of distilled water and a teaspoon of baking soda will also work just fine.
